Johannes Prammer

Johannes Prammer (born February 15, 1948 in Linz , Upper Austria ; † August 13, 2020 ) was an Austrian provincial Roman archaeologist .

Life

Johannes Prammer studied at the University of Innsbruck Classical Archeology , Prehistory and Early History and Ancient History . In 1973 he was with a thesis on the Roman glasses Upper Austria doctorate . From the end of 1974 to 1976 he worked as a volunteer at the Prehistoric State Collection in Munich and led, among other things, excavations in the Terra Sigillata pottery in Westerndorf-Pfaffenhofen am Inn . In 1976 he came to Straubing as the scientific excavation manager of a DFG project , where he excavated the Roman forts . In 1978 he became city archaeologist of Straubing, in 1982 he became head of the Gäubodenmuseum , and in 2013 he retired.
