Johannes Rathofer

Johannes Rathofer (born September 9, 1925 in Duisburg , † April 19, 1998 in Cologne ) was a German old Germanist .

Life

From 1947 he studied Catholic theology and classical philology in Bamberg , continued in Münster and, since 1950, German studies. From 1954 to 1960 he was an assistant at the Catholic Theological Seminary at the University of Münster , and in 1960 assistant at the German Institute there. After receiving his doctorate in 1961 and his habilitation in 1965, two years later he became a full professor of Germanic Philology at the University of Cologne .
