Johannes Seeberger
Johannes Seeberger (born September 17, 1843 in Graz , † November 11, 1879 in Lindewiese ) was an Austrian chess composer .
Life
Seeberger studied at the Technical University in Graz and at the Bergakademie in Leoben. In 1870 he was a steel works official in Krieglach , later director of the iron works in Lilienfeld .
Chess composition
Seeberger received an Honorable Mention as a chess composer in the Régence 1860 tournament and won first prize in the 1862 West German Chess Federation tournament . He went down in history as the originator of the "Seeberger": a freely movable stone is restricted in its pulling force by an indirect critical combination so that the resulting pressure can be exploited.

Solution:
1. Ra1 – a8
threatens 2. Ra8 – f8 + and thus steers Black's bishop to a8.
1.… Bd5xa8
2. Bc1 – a3
To ward off the threat 3. Ba3xc5 and 4. Bc5 – d6 mate Black must move the knight so that it covers the d6-square.
2.… Nc5 – b7
3. Ba3 – e7
On a knight move, the bishop on d6 mates. The black bishop has no opportunity to move because he was directed to a8 on the first move and locked in by the forced knight move. Black is under pressure to act.
3.… h6 – h5
enables
4. Be7 – g5 mate.
