Johannes Singer (politician)

Johannes Sebastian Singer (born June 4, 1943 in Berlin ; † March 8, 2008 in Leverkusen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Bundestag from 1987 to 1998 .

Singer studied law at the University of Cologne and the University of Marburg . After his second state examination in 1970, he worked as a judge and public prosecutor in Düsseldorf and Opladen , before moving to the Ministry of Justice in Düsseldorf as a consultant in 1975 . In 1979 he became a senior public prosecutor , and from 1981 he worked for the public prosecutor's office in Cologne .

Singer joined the SPD in 1963 at the age of 20. In 1969 he was elected to the city council of Leverkusen, from 1983 to 1990 he was parliamentary group chairman. He represented the constituency of Leverkusen - Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis II from 1987 to 1998 in the Bundestag , among other things as a member of the Interior Committee.

Johannes Singer was married twice and had a son.
