Johannes Wenzel

Johannes Wenzel (born January 9, 1843 in Bamberg ; † January 16, 1911 there ) was a Catholic clergyman and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Wenzel attended Latin school, grammar school and the philosophical and theological section of the Royal Lyceum Bamberg from 1853 to 1865. After that he was city chaplain in the university town of Erlangen from 1865 to 1868 , at the same time religious teacher at higher educational institutions, curatus at the university hospital and president of the Catholic journeyman's association. Between 1868 and 1872 he was city chaplain in Bamberg at the parish church z. Ul woman. He was also a board member of the Catholic Casino (political men's association), the St. Vincenzverein, and co-founder of this Catholic men's association. He was also a co-founder and first secretary of the women's association for the supervision of nannies and the promotion of child care. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Association for the Deaf and Dumb (deaf-and-dumb institution run by women religious) and the boys' rescue facility, which is also run by women religious. He was also the guardian of the Catholic journeyman's association and honorary member of the Catholic workers' association and the Catholic apprentice association.

From 1887 to 1898 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Upper Franconia 5 ( Bamberg , Höchstadt ) and the German Center Party . Here he was a member of the budget and petitions committee for a long time.
