The Johanneskapelle is a listed church building in Nehden , a district of Brilon , in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

Floor plan and views

The to St. John the Baptist consecrated chapel was built 1,681th The quarry stone building replaced a chapel of the same name that was described as desolate in documents in 1600 . The east apse is semicircular. The beams of the flat ceiling are visibly plastered. The window and door frames are made of sandstone . The gable roof, crowned with a bell tower, and the west gable are slated. A sandstone portal built into the south wall bears the year 1681. The floor was paved with sandstone.

Furnishing

  • The altar cross is dated to the 17th century. It is 49 cm high, the body is 18 cm long. Apparently the work comes from the same workshop as the crosses in Padberg and Scharfenberg . Only the position of the hands and the clothing differ.

  • Two cast-iron grave slabs , one from the clergyman Adam Bernhard Isenberg and the other from the grave of the founder of the chapel, Conrad Hermann Ulrich. This owned a nearby farm. He died on January 20, 1733
  • The bell was cast by Humpert in Brilon in 1840
  • The glass paintings were created by Josef Hunstiger around 1930
