Johanniter coming Langewische

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Langewische was a commander of the Order of St. John in the parish of Stollhamm in Butjadingen .

location

The next one lay in the Butjadinger wipes. Despite the name, presumably not near Wisk in the northeast, but along the five-kilometer Burgweg in the west of Stollhamm, which runs from north to south. The approximately 30 associated sausages can still be recognized today.

history

The first documentary mention as a coming was in 1319 in the Groningen comparison , in which it is counted under the name Langewick to the Frisian Johanniter order houses. The place was first mentioned 100 years earlier, when a Rüstringen judge named Ziazo de Langawisc represented the place in a contract with Bremen . The area of the economic land was about 800 hectares . It is not known how many of the farms were ordered by Johanniter. The place was probably abandoned as a result of one of the numerous storm surges in the 14th century. The Clement Flood of 1334 could in particular have been the reason for a relocation to Roddens , which appears for the first time in 1424.
