John Baring, 7th Baron Ashburton
John Francis Harcourt Baring, 7th Baron Ashburton , KG , KCVO (born November 2, 1928 ) is an influential former British banker .
biography
Baring came from the Baring banking family . For this he was Chairman of the Board of Barings Bank from 1985 to 1989 . He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of England from 1983 . Baring also sat on the board of directors of Jaguar , Dunlop and Royal Insurance . Furthermore Baring was CEO ( CEO ) of British Petroleum (BP). He held this office from 1992 to 1995.
From 1990 to 1994 Baring also worked for the Prince of Wales in his capacity as Duke of Cornwall . During this time he held the office of Lord Warden of the Stannaries . The holder of this now ceremonial office is in fact the most senior advisor to the Duke on matters affecting the Duchy of Cornwall .
Baring has four children from his first marriage, which was divorced in 1984. His second marriage is to a great niece of Winston Churchill . Together with her, he founded a company that specializes in the reproduction of historical textiles.
In 1991 he inherited the title of Baron Ashburton from his father ; three years later, like his father, he was accepted into the Order of the Garter.
