John Berry (singer)
John Berry (born September 14, 1959 in Aiken , South Carolina ) is an American country singer.
Life
Beginnings
John grew up in Atlanta. He started playing the guitar at the age of twelve. His favorite musical styles were soul and country . After first appearances in the Georgia country scene , he produced six self-financed albums starting in 1979, some of which sold several thousand times.
Career
In 1992 he moved to Nashville , where he received a recording contract with Capitol Nashville that same year . A year later his first album was released: John Berry . The sales figures were initially not outstanding, but then picked up strongly after a few successful single releases. In the end, it was awarded platinum . The single Your Love Amazes Me reached number one on the country charts. Berry was thus established in the scene. However, he had to undergo brain surgery at the first peak of his career, which he survived without any problems.
In 1995 the album Standing On The Edge was released , which was gilded. Two decoupled singles made it into the top ten. In the same year Berry was nominated for various Grammy and CMA awards . The album Faces also went gold. The sales figures then slowly decreased. A few top 10 placements were still achieved, but his albums could no longer build on his earlier successes. In 1999 the singer with the concise tenor voice reminiscent of Vince Gill moved to the Lyric Street label. But here, too, there were no successes, and after only one album he changed the record company again. Eventually he ended up with the small, independent label Clear Sky Records.
