Aidan Nichols
Aidan Nichols OP (born September 17, 1948 in Lytham St Annes ) is an English Catholic theologian .
Life
John Christopher Nichols graduated from Christ Church (Oxford) with honors in modern history . He entered the Dominican Order in 1970 and took the order name Aidan. He spent the next seven years at Blackfriars, Oxford . During this time he was ordained a priest on July 7, 1976. He then moved to Edinburgh , where he was a Catholic chaplain at the University of Edinburgh. In 1986 he received his doctorate in Edinburgh. Between 1983 and 1991 he was a lecturer in dogmatics and ecumenics at the Angelicum . In 1990 he received a licentiate in sacred theology from the Angelicum. In 2005 he became the Robert Randall Distinguished Professor in Christian Culture at Providence College .
