Punta Troncoso is a headland of Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It lies between the headlands of Punta Hermosilla and Punta Serrano at the northwest end of Discovery Bay .
Scientists of the 2nd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947-1948) named the headland after Arturo Troncoso Daroch († 2008), later Rear Admiral and Housing Minister of the military junta under Augusto Pinochet , who was involved in this and the 1st Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1946-1947).
