John Deere Cady (born January 26, 1866 in New York City , † November 12, 1933 in Chicago , Illinois ) was an American golfer .
biography
John Deere Cady is the grandson of John Deere , founder of the agricultural engineering company of the same name . Cady lived in Moline , Illinois, USA . He was the founder of the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club . At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis , he retired in the single in the first round to eventual Olympic champion George Lyon of Canada. In the team competition he was able to win the silver medal with the Trans Mississippi Golf Association . In 1904 he also took part in the US amateur championships, where he was eliminated in the first round. In 1914 he won the Trans Mississippi Amateur Championship . In 1912 and 1913, Cady was president of the Western Golf Association . Cady operated a quarry in Moline until 1920 when he moved to Chicago.
