John E. Upledger

John Edwin Upledger (born February 10, 1932 in Detroit , Michigan , † October 26, 2012 in Palm Beach Gardens , Florida ) was an American doctor of osteopathy and surgery . He received his doctorate in alternative medicine . One of his greatest successes was the controversial cranio-sacral therapy that he developed from osteopathy and is still used today.

Life

1975-1983 he taught as professor of biochemistry and clinical studies at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University . Upledger was an advocate for the study of new therapy methods. He wrote several books on craniosacral therapy. Craniosacral Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy II - Beyond the Dura, Somato Emotional Release, Your Inner Physician and You and A Brain is Born are among Upledger's most important works.

Together with his son John Matthew Upledger, he founded the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators (IAHE) and the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners (IAHP). In 1985 he founded the Upledger Institute and the Upledger Clinic in Florida, where his discoveries in the field of craniosacral therapy continued to develop after his death.
