John G. Hemry
John G. Hemry (born April 14, 1956 ) is an American science fiction writer . In German-speaking countries he was first known under the pseudonym Jack Campbell , under which he wrote the cycle Die Verschollene Flotte .
Life
Hemry is the son of a US Navy officer. Due to his father's transfers, he grew up in Pensacola, Florida, San Diego, California and the Midway Islands. He graduated from Lyons High School in Lyons, Kansas in 1974 and went to the United States Naval Academy (Class of '78). After several positions in the US Navy , he was retired as Lieutenant Commander . He now lives in Maryland, is married with three children.
Works
In 1997 Hemry published his first short story, One small spin . It was followed by over thirty other short stories, three science fiction series plus two spin-off series. In 2015 Hemry also started a steampunk series.
Stark's War series (as John G. Hemry)
The series is about a unit of US soldiers on the moon led by Sergeant Stark. Under his leadership, the unit mutinies to protect the colonists.

The Lost Fleet (as Jack Campbell)
The series is about a space fleet cut off in enemy territory from the point of view of the protagonist and commander "Black Jack" Geary. In the course of the series, the fleet not only succeeds in returning home to the Alliance, but also almost destroys the syndicate's fleet in the course of the escape. This leads to the collapse of the syndicate, which is told in more detail in the first spin-off "The Lost Stars". Contact with extraterrestrials is also established for the first time, which is deepened in the second spin-off "Beyond the Border". 2017 starts as the third offshoot of the series, the prequel "The Genesis Fleet".
