John Gordon (Colonel)
John Gordon († 1649 ) was an imperial colonel and one of the main participants in the murder of Wallenstein in Eger .
The Calvinist Scot from Clan Gordon served in the Thirty Years' War under Wallenstein and was promoted from common soldier to colonel . He took part in the war campaigns in northern Germany and in April 1632 recruited troops for the Wallenstein Army as a lieutenant colonel .
Appointed Colonel and Commander of Eger, he pretended to side with Wallenstein, but initiated the assassination of the Duke of Friedland with Butler and Leslie .
His suspended wages for this amounted to 120,000 guilders . Nothing is known about his later life.
