Wilhelm von Janko

Wilhelm Edler von Janko (born December 5, 1835 in Mantua , † April 2, 1911 in Vienna ) was an Austrian officer , archivist and historian .

Janko joined the Austrian army and participated in the wars against Italy in 1859 , in the German-Danish War in Schleswig-Holstein in 1864 and in the German War of 1866 in Bohemia. In Schleswig-Holstein he was active in the general staff. Then he went to the Imperial and Royal War Archives in Vienna . There he found employment as an official . In 1883 he was a captain in the retirement staggered. Among other things, he was also a collaborator at the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (ADB).
