John Graham (Bishop)

John Graham (born February 23, 1794 in Claypath , Durham , † June 15, 1865 in Chester ) was Bishop of Chester and advisor to Charles Darwin during his studies in Cambridge .

Live and act

John Graham went to Christ's College at Cambridge University after an initial education in his hometown . There he graduated as Baccalaureus Artium in 1816 and as Magister Artium in 1819 . In 1818 he became a deacon and from 1830 to 1849 he was the head of Christ's College. In 1834 and 1840 he served as Vice Chancellor of Cambridge University. From 1843 he was also rector of Willingham in Cambridgeshire .

On March 11, 1848, he was appointed Bishop of Chester .
