John Gully

John Gully (* 21st August 1783 in Gloucester , England ; † 9. March 1863 in Durham , England) was a British boxer of the bare-knuckle era, racehorses owners and politicians, who from 1832 to 1837 for the constituency of Pontefract in House of Commons sat.

In 2011, Gully was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame . In 1846 his mare Mendicant won the 1000 Guineas , in 1854 The Hermit won the 2000 Guineas .
