John Hart (born December 13, 1917 in Los Angeles , California - † September 20, 2009 in Playas de Rosarito , Baja California , Mexico ) was an American actor . He played his most famous role as the Lone Ranger .

Life

Hart, a graduate of Pasadena High School, first appeared in a number of plays at the Pasadena Playhouse before starting his Hollywood career with a minor role in Cecil B. DeMille's The Buccaneer in 1938 and working as a minor actor until his army service, which he took up in 1941. In 1947 he resumed his film career, initially with very little success. His most famous role during this period was that of Jack Armstrong in the 1947 serial .
In 1952 he was cast as the successor to Clayton Moore in 52 episodes of the western series The Lone Ranger as the title hero, which meant Hart's breakthrough. Hart played this role in 1982 as a guest in an episode of the Happy Days series . In the 1981 remake, The Legend of the Lonely Ranger , Hart made a guest appearance as a newspaper publisher.
He played another title character in the serial The Adventures of Captain Africa (1955) and in the 39-part TV series Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans based on James Fenimore Cooper .
During the recordings for Hawkeye , which took place in Canada, Hart met his colleague Beryl Braithwaite , whom he married after a very short time. The marriage lasted until his death.
In the 1960s, his interest shifted from acting to producing commercials and documentaries. He was also involved in the post-production of the Quincy series .
