John Hiden
John Hiden (born February 21, 1940 in London ; died August 10, 2012 in Leeds ) was a British historian.
Life
John Hiden attended public school in Acton, London . He studied history at the University of London and received his doctorate in 1970 with a dissertation on the political relations between the Weimar Republic and the Baltic states. The dissertation appeared in print in 1987.
Hiden taught at the University of Aberdeen from 1973 and moved to the University of Bradford in 1979 . There he founded a research center for the history of the Baltic States. From 2002 he continued to work as emeritus in Bradford and as a senior research fellow at Glasgow University . Among other things, Hiden was a member of the German Baltic Historical Commission .
Hiden was married to Juliet Hiden since 1963; they have two children.
