The Municipal Borough of Acton was a district in the metropolitan area of ​​the British capital London . It existed from 1868 to 1965 under different names and was located in the center of the former county of Middlesex .

history

Acton was originally a Civil parish in the Harde (hundred) Ossulstone. In 1868 a local board of health was created with competencies in the infrastructure sector . From this, an urban sanitary district was created in 1875 with expanded powers. In 1894 the health district was reconstituted as the Urban District . This in turn received in 1921 the status of a Municipal Borough .

When the Greater London Administrative Region was founded in 1965, the London Borough of Ealing was formed from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Acton, Ealing and Southall .
