Metropolitan Borough of Lambeth
The Metropolitan Borough of Lambeth was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London with the status of a Metropolitan Borough . It existed from 1900 to 1965 and was located in the south of the former County of London .
history
Lambeth was originally a Civil parish in Surrey . From 1855, the community belonged to the catchment area of the Metropolitan Board of Works . In 1889, Lambeth became part of the County of London, and was converted into a Metropolitan Borough eleven years later.
When Greater London was founded in 1965, Lambeth merged with the districts of Clapham and Streatham in the Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth to form the London Borough of Lambeth .
