The Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea was a district in the metropolitan area of ​​the British capital London with the status of a Metropolitan Borough . It existed from 1900 to 1965 and was located in the west of the former County of London .

history

Chelsea was originally a civil parish in the county of Middlesex . From 1855, the community belonged to the catchment area of ​​the Metropolitan Board of Works . In 1889 Chelsea became part of the new County of London, and was converted into a Metropolitan Borough eleven years later.

When Greater London was founded in 1965, the metropolitan boroughs of Chelsea and Kensington merged to form the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea .
