John Jackson (born November 29, 1906 in Glasgow , † June 12, 1965 in Nova Scotia ) was a Scottish football goalkeeper and golfer .

Career

Born in Glasgow , Jackson began his football career in his hometown at Partick Thistle . For the club he was active between 1926 and 1933 in Scottish Division One . In 1930 he lost with his team in the Scottish Cup final against the Glasgow Rangers . In June 1933 he moved to the English first division club Chelsea . He made his debut on August 26, 1933 against Stoke City . For the Londoners he completed a total of 49 league games by 1939.

After his career as a soccer player, Jackson became a professional golfer.

National team

John Jackson made his debut on May 16, 1931 in the Scottish national team in the international match against Austria at the Hohe Warte stadium in Vienna. Against the Austrian wonder team , the Scots lost 0: 5. In the same year Jackson came in two other internationals including against Italy and Switzerland . With Scotland, the goalkeeper took part in the British Home Championship four times and won them in 1935 and 1936 .
