John Kennedy (born August 18, 1983 in Bellshill ) is a former Scottish football player .

Kennedy suffered a career-threatening knee injury on his international debut against Romania and was therefore unable to play a competitive game between March 2004 and April 2007. For this reason, the Scottish Football Association SFA has compensated Celtic Glasgow with compensation payments. Kennedy did not resume training until the end of 2006.

In the 2007-08 season, Kennedy was a regular at the beginning of the season, but after another knee injury in November, which occurred in a Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk , he had to sit out again for the rest of the season. In July 2008, Kennedy went on loan to Norwich City in the English second division to give his career fresh impetus. However, he finally ended his career in November 2009 because of a knee injury.

He is the grandson of Jimmy Delaney , who played for Celtic and Manchester United .
