John Leyding

John Leyding (born August 11, 1909 in Hamburg ; † May 11, 1998 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hamburg parliament .

Life and politics

John Leyding was a trained hairdresser , but later worked as a commercial clerk and auditor for an auditor . He joined the Social Democratic Party in 1926. During the time of National Socialism he lost his job for political reasons.

After the Second World War he took over the post of full-time SPD parliamentary group secretary from 1947 to 1959. He then became the managing director of a housing association. He was in the first freely elected citizenship for his party from October 1946 . He sat in the Hamburg citizenship continuously until 1978. During the SPD opposition period of the Hamburg Block Senate between 1953 and 1957, Leyding led so-called contact conferences together with the parliamentary group leader Paul Nevermann , which were supposed to inform the population about the opposition work.
