John Llewellyn Moxey

John Llewellyn Moxey (born February 26, 1925 in Argentina - † April 29, 2019 ) was a British film director .

Live and act

Moxey's father was in the steel and coal business in Argentina at the time of John's birth. Back at home, John Llewellyn Moxey was drafted towards the end of World War II. Back in civilian life, Moxey's film career began with an apprenticeship in the editing room. Since 1947 he has been the third assistant director . In 1955 he made his debut as a director on television; With the 1959 British remake of the German war film Rommel calls Kairo ( Foxhole in Cairo ), which had been shot immediately before , Moxey made his directorial debut in the cinema.

Although always a B-movie director, John Moxey had some moderate successes in the 1960s with crime and horror films such as the horror story City of the Dead and the crime thriller Circus of Fear , the British version of an Edgar Wallace crime thriller in the German version 1965/66 by Werner Jacobs under the title The riddle of the silver triangle with the identical cast was staged. At the time, however, television was his main employer, and he directed episodes of popular crime series such as Der Baron and Simon Templar . Then Moxey's oeuvre flattened out for good. He moved to the USA and shot almost exclusively conventional television products in Hollywood. In the early 1990s, he retired into private life and settled in Washington State . His work includes around 100 productions.
