Robert B. Hauser (born March 25, 1919 in Spokane , United States , † July 8, 1994 in Los Angeles ) was an American cameraman .

Live and act

Hauser came to film after his discharge from military service during the Second World War and has been a camera assistant (e.g. for jet fighters , a Cold War aviator film with John Wayne ) since the age of 30 . Since 1958 Hauser, meanwhile risen to chief cinematographer , oversaw a plethora of popular television series, including Yancy Derringer , Die Unbrechlichen , Wyatt Earp Intervenes , Peyton Place and Solo for ONCEL , before making the leap to cinema in 1967.

His debut for the big screen, the turbulent Neil Simon fun game A Strange Couple with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau , was a huge public success. Although some of his follow -up films also made for discussion, including the two very violent and socially critical anti-westerns A Man They Called a Horse and The Lullaby of Manslaughter (both 1969) as well as the rat horror film Willard and the racing driver's strip Le Mans (both shot in 1970 and premiered the following year), Hauser was unable to assert himself in the cinema in the long term and then returned to television films, including numerous crime novels and thrillers.

Occasionally, however, Hauser continued to shoot films that found their way into the theaters - but consistently productions of a conventional nature such as Das Ultimatum or Das Teufelscamp . At the age of 65, after working on camera for one episode each of Trapper John, MD and Airwolf (1984), Robert B. Hauser withdrew into private life.
