Sir John Chalmers McColl (born April 17, 1952 ) is a general in the British Army and currently Representative of the British Monarchy in Jersey .

Life

His first school station was the village of Culford near Bury St Edmunds . 1973 began his military career in the infantry. In 1989 he commanded a squadron in the Royal Tank Regiment . In 2000 he took command of the British 3rd Infantry Division . In 2001/02 he was the ISAF commander . After further promotions and stations, he became general in 2007 and headed the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe until 2011. On December 29, 2007, he was promoted to Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath and has since had the suffix "Sir".
