John Meredyth Lucas
John Meredyth Lucas (born May 1, 1919 - October 19, 2002 in Newport Beach , California ) was an American screenwriter , film director and film producer .
John Lucas was born to writer Bess Meredyth and filmmaker Wilfred Lucas . After his parents' divorce in 1927, his mother remarried, namely the famous director Michael Curtiz . After attending various military schools, John Lucas was primarily active as a screenwriter, including for the television series Ben Casey , Raumschiff Enterprise , Auf der Flucht , Mannix and Kojak - Einsatz in Manhattan . Lucas has also directed episodes of the Ben Casey , Spaceship Enterprise , Invasion of Vega and Planet of the Apes series .
John Meredyth Lucas, who is not related to George Lucas , died of leukemia in 2002 at the age of 83 .
