John Morrow

John Morrow (born June 28, 1931 near Belfast , † January 1, 2009 in Belfast) was a Northern Irish pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Northern Ireland. He was one of the founders of the Corrymeela Community .

Life

Growing up on a farm near Belfast, Morrow first studied agricultural science at Queen's University of Belfast . He later began studying theology in Belfast and Edinburgh. During his time in Scotland he became a member of the Iona Community in 1958 , which he remained until 1971. From his membership in the Iona Community, he became a founding member of the Corrymeela Community in 1965 and was its director from 1979 to 1993.

Morrow has pastors in various parishes in Northern Ireland and Edinburgh and University Chaplain (pastor at the university) in Glasgow, Dublin and Belfast.

From 1993 to 2002 Morrow taught at the Irish School of Ecumenics in Dublin.
