John Morrow (Author)

John Morrow (born 1930 in Belfast , † November 6, 2014 ) was a Northern Irish writer.

Life

Morrow was born in Belfast in 1930 to a seamstress and shipyard worker. After attending primary school, he began to work as a shipyard worker in 1944. This was followed by an apprenticeship as a linen weaver before he worked as a day laborer in England . He later worked as a furniture salesman and insurance agent.

Morrow also acted as a folk singer and musician. He worked for the BBC and Raidió Teilifís Éireann and wrote short stories and novels. In 1975 he received a fellowship from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland .

John Morrow died in November 2014 after a brief illness at the age of 84, shortly after his wife. He leaves two sons.
