John Osteen

John Hillery Osteen (born August 21, 1921 in Paris (Texas) , † January 23, 1999 in Houston ) was an American pastor of the Pentecostal movement , author and founder of the Lakewood Church .

Live and act

Osteen was first pastor of the Southern Baptist Convention , from which he separated in 1958 and turned to the Pentecostal movement . In 1959 he founded the Lakewood Church. He wrote various books on religion and self-help. He was also known as a television preacher.

Osteen was married to Dodie. His children Paul Osteen, Lisa Comes, and Joel Osteen also worked in Lakewood Church. Under the direction of Joel Osteen, the membership of this megachurch in Houston multiplied .
