John Provan

John Provan (born July 26, 1956 in Steubenville , Ohio ) is an American historian . He is the child of a German mother and an American.

Career

His father, John Provan Jr., served with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force at various US bases , including Kaiserslautern , Sembach Air Base , Langley AFB and Rhein-Main , for almost 30 years . John Provan spent many years as a child on the Rhein Main Air Base, in the Gateway Gardens residential area , where he also went to school. As a collector, Provan has been dealing with the subject of The Americans in Germany since the 1980s . After graduating from the University of Maryland , he wrote his master's thesis at the Technical University of Darmstadt . Also in Darmstadt , he did his doctorate on a topic on the German airship hangars.
