John Stewart, 1st Earl of Lennox (* around 1430, † 1495 ), was a Scottish nobleman from the Stewart family .

John was a son of Sir Alan Stewart of Darnley and his wife Catherine Seton. He is a descendant of John Stewart of Bonkyl . His father was murdered in 1439, a year earlier he was married at the age of 8 to the 10-year-old Margaret, daughter of Alexander Montgomerie, 1st Lord Montgomerie .

John Stewart was raised to Lord Darnley in 1460 and Earl of Lennox and squire of the feudal barony of Torbolton in 1473 . He had the following children from his marriage:
