John Vassalos (born February 28, 1982 ) is a Greek pool player .

Career

In 1996 and 1997 Vassalos was European youth champion in the 9-ball students. In 1997 he was runner-up in the 14/1 and in 1998 in the 9-ball European student champion. In 1999 he became vice world champion of the juniors as well as 8-ball European champion and 9-ball vice-European champion of the juniors. In 2000 he was 9-ball junior European champion and third in 8-ball. In the same year he finished 33rd at the Italy Open and barely missed the knockout round.

At the 2004 European Championships , he came 17th in 9-ball and 25th in 8-ball. At the Austrian Open 2004 he was only eliminated in the semifinals and thus won his first Euro Tour medal. In 2007 he won the Austria Open with a 10: 9 final victory against the Maltese Tony Drago . At the Swiss Open 2007 he lost in the quarter-finals to the German Oliver Ortmann , in the second round of the Costa del Sol Open he lost to the German Ralf Souquet after defeating Ortmann in the sixteenth-finals. In 2008 he was eliminated from the French Open and the Italy Open in the sixteenth finals against Imran Majid and Sebastian Staab . At the German Open 2008 he reached the round of 16, but lost it to Thomas Engert .

At the Team World Cup 2010 Vassalos reached the semi-finals with the Greek team, which was lost to eventual world champions Great Britain.
