Johner (* 2. March 1986 in Thalwil ; bourgeois Manuel Johner) is a Swiss dialect - Rapper from Zurich . He is under contract with the Swiss label CMD Records .
Life
Even in his childhood he wrote his own poems and enjoyed playing on words. At the age of 13, he attended boarding school, where he first came into contact with hip-hop culture. From this point on he participated in so-called freestyle sessions and he began to write the first lyrics for his own songs. When his father died in 2002, he began to wear his Swiss Army identification tag (also known as the “tombstone”), which later became his trademark.
His first live experience gained Johner 2004. The following year, appeared with the limited edition of 300 pieces Album care of daeWue is heard, the first publication on the Johner as a rapper. Two years later, the Zurich word acrobat published his first own sound carrier on Bakara Music and first drew attention to himself with his EP black and white . His music video for the song Hoffnig was so popular that it was broadcast several times a day on SF Zwei and in the daily program of VIVA (Switzerland) and helped the rapper to make a name for himself in the Swiss rap scene within a very short time. With over 150,000 views, Johner is the most popular MX3 musician in the hip-hop category.
Less than two years later, the album Gummischrot was released , which Johner released together with the rapper and long-time colleague daeWue under the name Johner & daeWue via CMD Records and K-tel . As a bonus they developed their own computer game Geschi's Revenge together with Gabriel Schwarz and as the first band worldwide . In the 3D shooter you have to hunt down the villain "Geschi" (a tooth that has gone crazy, which is among other things the logo of the rap combo). When trying to save the world, Johner & daeWue's voices accompany the players through the individual levels. In addition to this album, including a PC game, they shot five music videos, played over 20 concerts on their tour through Switzerland and, as a thank you for their fans, released the video clip Gummischrot Reloaded , which can be downloaded for free.
In 2012 Johner released the exclusive mini CD "Fritig de 13t", which was distributed throughout Switzerland by various partners and an 80-person street team to draw attention to the upcoming album . The new music videos also ran on Swiss TV channels and in rotation on MTV . The single Die Einzig was released on February 3, 2012. Johner's first solo album, Spectral Color , was released in the same year and made it into the Swiss charts at number 77 . In 2012 Johner was also nominated for the following four Swiss Hip Hop Music Awards: Best Rap Solo Artist, Best Newcomer, Best Rap Album, Best Video. In addition to the Swiss rapper colleagues daeWue, CMD and Sell'n'Gaddi, the well-known artists M-Dot (USA), Pat Cash (GER) and word of mouth (AT) from abroad are represented on Spectral Color . The album was released through CMD Records and distributed through K-tel.
In his career so far, Johner has played as opening act for Dilated Peoples , Zion I , Reef the Lost Cauze and Krumb Snatcha, among others . Johner is not only known for his above-average performance in rap technique and has become a role model for many, but also because he repeatedly manages to cast a spell over the audience with profound texts and stimulate them to think.
