Jean "Johnny" Schuth (born December 7, 1941 in Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) ) is a former French football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Schuth began playing football in the Lorraine town of Thionville . In 1961 he joined Racing Strasbourg , where he was initially used in the second team. A year later he moved up to the professional team. In 1966 he won the French Cup with Racing . After ten years in Alsace , he moved to FC Metz in 1971 , for whom he played 45 league games. In 1974 he ended his career at the lower class club Stade Olympique de Merlebach .

National team

Schuth was appointed as the third goalkeeper in the French squad at the 1966 World Cup in England . In his entire playing career, however, he did not play a single game for the " Équipe Tricolore ".

Private

His father Herbert and his son Philippe (1966–2002) also played as goalkeepers for FC Metz in Ligue 1.
