Jon Largiadèr

Jon Largiadèr (born April 9, 1947 ; resident in Santa Maria Val Müstair ) is a Swiss vascular surgeon . He is a professor at the University of Zurich .

Career

Largiadèr studied medicine from 1967 to 1974 at the University Hospital Zurich , which he completed in 1974 with the dissertation Experimental Pancreas Conservation with Hypothermic Continuous Perfusion . In 1975 he completed special training in endoscopy at the medical polyclinic of the University Clinic in Zurich. He then worked as an assistant doctor at the Rorschach municipal hospital until 1976 , after which he worked at the University Hospital Zurich, which he last gave up as senior physician in 1988 to take up a position as chief physician at the Thurgau surgical clinic, cantonal hospital Frauenfeld. In 1983 he completed the second special training in neurotraumatology at the neurosurgical clinic of the University Hospital Zurich . In 1987 Largiadèr submitted his habilitation on the subject of a technical and tactical concept for the revascularization of the lower leg arteries . In 1983 he passed the examination to become a specialist in surgery.

From 1993 to 1997 he was the chief physician of the surgical clinic and head of the surgery department at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital . During this time he was appointed adjunct professor in 1996. Since 1997, Largiadèr has been an attending physician at several clinics and from 2002–2006 was the specialist head of vascular surgery at the Limmattal Schlieren Hospital.

Scientific achievement

Largiadèr has been teaching medicine at the University of Zurich since 1981. In 1991 he co-founded the international course for training in vascular suturing techniques, Zermatt Vascular. For the vascular surgical suturing technique, he developed realistic leg models for simulation purposes. He also developed an abdomen model to simulate interventions on the abdominal artery, kidney or pelvic arteries.

Largiadèr is co-founder and co-editor of the journal “Gefäßchirurgie”.

Awards and honors

In 1987 he received the prize of the Swiss Society for Surgery and the Stierli Prize of the University of Zurich (dissertation)

He was honored as a corresponding member by the German and Austrian Society for Vascular Surgery.
