Jonas Goldbaum is a German-speaking guitar pop band from Vienna and was founded in 2002. The band name is derived from the statement made by the singer Lechner's niece Jona, who described a decorated Christmas tree as a gold tree .

history

The band was founded in 2002 by Arne Lechner (vocals, guitar) and Flo Frankl (bass). In autumn 2003 Martin Kaser (guitar) and Thorsten Mahr (drums) completed the line-up. In 2004 the band played a number of concerts across Austria. In March 2005 the band released their debut album Tower to Bodenpersonal . In spring 2006 Jonas Goldbaum was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award , in February 2007 the band's second album was released in Austria, Our world needs you . A little later, in May 2007, the band was signed by the German rock label Roadrunner Records , which our world needs you released on October 26, 2007 in Germany. On August 30th, 2008 the band played in the club "Chelsea" in Vienna and made hints that this was the farewell concert. After the band canceled a gig in Pettenbach on September 5th, 2008, it was certain that the band had disbanded with this line-up.

On January 20, 2009 the rumors were confirmed that Jonas Goldbaum will continue to exist with the new line-up. On the band's MySpace page, the new line-up, consisting of the band's original singer and songwriter and the three new musicians from the band Incorporated, was announced.

Appearances

Jonas Goldbaum have played more than 100 concerts in Austria and Germany to date, around a quarter of them in Vienna alone, including three times at the Vienna Danube Island Festival .

In August 2007, the band supported Jimmy Eat World at their only Germany gig in Cologne .

In October 2007 the band accompanied the Swedish songwriter Nikola Sarcevic and at the end of November 2007 the Canadian band The Weakerthans on their tour of Germany.
