Jonathan Cantwell (born January 8, 1982 in Brisbane - † November 6, 2018 ) was an Australian cyclist who was considered a sprint specialist during his active time.
Career
Cantwell has won numerous races on the Australian and US cycling calendar since 2007. He also won two stages of the Herald Sun Tour in 2009 and was Australian Criteria Champion in 2011 .
For the 2012 season Cantwell moved to the Danish ProTeam Saxo Bank . There he was supposed to support Juan José Haedo as a sprint driver. For this team he won two stages of the Tour de Taiwan in 2012 and competed in the Tour de France in 2012 , which he finished 137th in the overall standings.
In 2014 Jonathan finished his cycling career, but was still active as a triathlete . In 2017 he developed testicular cancer and died the following year at the age of 36.
