Jonathan Cook
Jonathan Cook (* 1965 in Buckinghamshire , England ) is an independent journalist , foreign correspondent and author who specializes in writing on the Middle East and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict .
Cook has lived in the city of Nazareth in northern Israel, which is mainly inhabited by Israeli Arabs , since September 2001 . He writes regularly for Al-Ahram Weekly in Cairo , for the Daily Star in Beirut and for Aljazeera.net . He previously worked for The Guardian and The Observer newspapers and has also written about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for Le Monde diplomatique and Counterpunch . His book Blood and Religion deals with the problem of Israel as a "Jewish and democratic state", as well as the religious penetration of Israeli politics. In 2007 Cook and others wrote the “One State Declaration”, in which a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict is rejected and a one-state solution (i.e. without Israel as a Jewish state) is called for.
