Jonathan Cott (* in New York City ) is an American editor and writer .

Life

Cott has been the magazine's longtime editor since Rolling Stone was founded . He has also written for The New York Times and The New Yorker . He is considered a renowned contemporary critic. He became famous for his numerous essays and books on art, literature and music, as well as interviews with artists such as Leonard Bernstein , Bob Dylan , Glenn Gould , Werner Herzog , Henry Miller , Lou Reed and Steve Reich . Cott lives in New York City.
