The memorial at the Breitenfeld cemetery is a listed memorial for concentration camp victims and fallen in the village of Breitenfeld in the town of Gardelegen in Saxony-Anhalt .

The memorial commemorates 20 victims of National Socialism and three soldiers buried here . It is located at the northern end of the Breitenfeld cemetery north of the village on Schwiesauer Straße.

Immediately before the end of the Second World War , a death march of concentration camp prisoners passed through Breitenfeld on April 13, 1945 . He came from Mieste station over the Hellberge to Breitenfeld and moved on via Schwiesau , Zichtau and Estedt to the Isenschnibbe barn . 20 of the weakened prisoners were shot or beaten to death in the Breitenfeld area and then ultimately buried in the cemetery. A memorial plaque commemorated 20 anti-fascist resistance fighters . The graves were there until the beginning of 2000 and then the tombstones were removed, with some of the old, ailing memorial stones coming to the Danneil Museum in Salzwedel . The board had already fallen off.

In 2002 a new plaque was unveiled.

In 2017 the memorial was redesigned by the Friends of the Isenschnibbe Memorial Site and restored to its original state. The new opening took place in September 2017. To the left and right of a path are ten uniformly designed graves, which are marked with a red triangle on a point. At the end of the path there is a boulder erected as a memorial stone. The memorial plaque, unveiled in 2002, is attached to it.

Their inscription reads:

To the left of the memorial stone, in the northwest corner of the memorial, is the grave complex for three German soldiers. A stone slab placed there bears the inscription:

Resting place
of three German soldiers who lost their lives here
in the last days of
the Second World War
.

In the local register of monuments , the memorial is listed as a memorial stone under registration number 094 98618 as a monument .
