Jonathan Grigoleit

Jonathan Grigoleit (* 1931 ) is a German administrative lawyer and association functionary in international education and development cooperation .

Life

Grigoleit was born in East Prussia and fled to the West with his family at the end of the war. From 1952 to 1958 he studied law and political science in Munich, Berlin (FU), Hamburg, Cape Town , Bonn and Cologne. During his studies he came into contact with questions of international cooperation, for example as a board member for international relations in the Association of German Student Unions (VDS) in 1957/58. In the following year 1958/59 he moved to the board of the German Committee of the World University Service , which he then served as general secretary until 1961 . After intermediate positions at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung , among others , Grigoleit took over the management of the International Office of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1967 , which he held until his retirement in 1997. A research stay took him to West Africa in 1971 , and in 1982/83 he headed the aspirants' college at Tongji University in Shanghai for one year .

In addition, Grigoleit has been involved in supra-regional exchange and development aid organizations for decades. From 1966 to 1992 he was a member of the board of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and from 1990 to 2010 the board of the Otto Benecke Foundation .

Awards

Grigoleit has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class (2002).
