society

Jonathan Tuffey learned to play football in the youth of Coventry City as a goalkeeper. After he did not play a single competitive game with the Sky Blues , as the club is called in England, he signed a contract with the Scottish club Partick Thistle in late May 2006 . While he had to stand in line as a replacement behind long-time goalkeeper Kenny Arthur in the 2006/07 season and received only a few appearances, he rose to the team's goalkeeper after his move to Accrington Stanley . In the following season Tuffey completed 33 league games for Partick and finished 6th with the team in the First Division . In the 2008/09 season he played all 36 games in the First Division and finished the season in second place. Also in the 2009/10 season Tuffey was still a regular in the goal of Thistle.

After he turned down a new contract offer from Partick Thistle in July 2010, the goalkeeper decided to leave the club shortly afterwards and to sign a two-year contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle .

Jonathan Tuffey went through all of Northern Ireland's youth national teams from the U-17 . It made his debut for the U-21 selection on November 14, 2006 in the game against Germany. After 13 games for Northern Ireland's U-21s, he made his debut on November 19, 2008 for the Northern Irish national football team . The game against Hungary was lost 2-0.
