Joop Eversteijn

Jozef Petrus "Joop" Eversteijn (* 29. January 1921 in The Hague , † 2. November 2013 ) was a Dutch football player and - functionary .

Athletic career

Eversteijn made his debut in November 1938 in the ADO Den Haag competition team , where he succeeded alongside his brother Piet Eversteijn . The striker won the only two Dutch championship titles in the club's history to date with the club in 1942 and 1943 . By 1955 he played 160 competitive games for the club, scoring almost 60 goals.

In 1965 Eversteijn returned to ADO Den Haag as a board member, previously he had coached the Pijnacker- based amateur club OLIVEO . Responsible for the sporting area, together with coach Ernst Happel and his successor Václav Ježek, he was responsible for establishing the club at the top of the table in the 1960s and early 1970s and winning the title once in four finals in the KNVB Cup . In July 1971, he accompanied the merger of ADO with local competitor Holland Sport to form FC Den Haag . 1975 succeeded under coach Vujadin Boškov another cup victory before Eversteijn 1977 gave up his office at the club later renamed ADO .
