Jorge Dominichi

Jorge Dominichi (born March 31, 1947 , † April 25, 1998 ) was an Argentine national soccer player and later worked as a coach.

Jorge "El Gori" Dominichi began his career in 1967 at CA River Plate in Buenos Aires . There he played as a right winger in 132 games until 1973, scoring 8 goals. He then moved to Spain, where he played for the second division side Córdoba CF until 1975 and then completed 46 first division games with the Elche CF until 1977 , in which he scored a goal. He finished his playing career in 1978 in Argentina at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata .

In 1967 he was the captain of the Argentine national youth team, which included Enrique Wolff , who won the title at the U-20 South American Championship in Paraguay - albeit only by drawing lots after the final against the hosts ended 2-2. Between 1971 and 1973 he also appeared 13 times for the senior national team , with whom he was fourth at the Taça Independência in Brazil in 1972 .

In later years he trained alongside River Plate, a club that was always close to his heart, Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba , Deportivo Maipú in Mendoza and Villa Dálmine in Buenos Aires. Most recently, he coached the River Plate youth team and toured the country looking for new talent.

In April 1998 he died of a heart attack at the age of 51. He was buried in the Cementerio de la Chacarita National Cemetery in Buenos Aires. River Plate honored him with a minute's silence in the Estadio Monumental .
