Jorge Edwards
Jorge Edwards (born June 29, 1931 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean diplomat and writer .
Life
He studied law and philosophy in Chile and Princeton . As a diplomat he represented his country in Brussels , Havana , Lima and Paris . After the military coup in 1973, he went into exile in Spain for five years . He has received numerous awards for his great literary work, including the Chilean National Prize in 1994 and the most important literary prize in the Spanish-speaking world, the " Premio Cervantes ", in 1999 .
From 1994 to 1996 Edwards was Chilean Ambassador to UNESCO ; In 2010 he was appointed Ambassador to France by President Sebastián Piñera .
