Jorge Gerdau Johannpeter (born December 8, 1936 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian entrepreneur.

origin

Jorge Gerdau Johannpeter comes from a German immigrant family . It is the third son of Curt Johannpeter and his wife, Helda Gerdau, the eldest daughter of Hugo Gerdau . He is the great-grandson of João Gerdau , the founder of the Gerdau Group . The family of German descent settled in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul , where he grew up and studied. Jorge Johannpeter is married to Maria Elena Pereira Johannpeter. Jorge has three brothers: Germano, Klaus and Frede, and five children: Carlos , André , Beatriz, Marta and Karina Johannpeter.

Career

From 1983 to 2006, Johannpeter was CEO of the steel group Gerdau SA in Porto Alegre in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and until March 2015 Chairman of the company's Supervisory Board. Since 2011 he has been President of the Câmara de Políticas de Gestão, Desempenho e Competitividade (CGDC), which advises President Dilma Rousseff on economic and organizational issues.
